Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Profile

The EEOC investigates charges of discrimination, offers mediation services and settles cases. When a charge is filed the EEOC conducts further investigations to establish if there is evidence for the charge. If evidence is found the two parties may be offered mediation services to avoid lengthy legal processes.

QUESTIONS

  • I have a signed lease that states my rent is $680 for my student apt. Before moving in the apartment was changed and the new rent became $50 more per mo. I paid this, but never signed an adendum to the original lease - this is my first apt rental. Do I have any recourse to ask for the $50/mo back (now totaling $250) since the amount was never part of my lease or because I paid it, does it mean implied acceptance and binding. They are charging me a break lease fee and I'm trying to get them to come down on the amount. I feel I was taken advantage of since I'm young.
  • My daughter was repeatedly sexually assaulted by her father. Now he is trying to get access to her since the criminal investigation has not resulted in charges because there were no witnesses. How can I find a lawyer to protect her?
  • how long do i have to hold on to an ex tenants property?
  • Hoping I picked the right category. In January of this year (2017) I received a 1099-C from the bank cancelation of debt from a Home Equity Line. Does the bank need to release the lien or deed that was recorded when the HEL was established? How do I know they truely forgave the debt or if there is still some backdoor for them to collect should I sell or refi the home? I only received the 1099-C nothing else. And at the Maricopa recorders office no release was recorded. What do I need to do to have them release it. Is there a time frame that the bank is required to file a release?
  • What can a parent do to get child support enforced if the parent ordered to pay moves out of state?
  • How do I contact the az legal help people? I filled out an online application but have been ignored. I have a judgement and part of that is for specific performance /forfeiture of my residence back to me after 3 years of no payments. I reside out of state because the bums have taken over the home and I need to gain possession. I was told I need a writ of restitution (whatever that is) and also told I need a lawyer to do this processing with the sheriff dept, and that is why I sought help from AZ law help. I have very low income $531.00 monthly
  • i am 22 years old i applied for food stamps and cash assistance i have recieved my food stamps but not the cash i just wnted to know when would i receive it
  • If I never got cited or arrested for misd. theft, and now after four months the state picked it up, can the plaintiff drop charges.

  • Landlord refuses to make repairs in the house we are renting. We are withholding rent. Today there's a notice on our door, that he's going to shut off the electricity. He refuse to move us to another unit and said if we can make repairs but he won't deduct the cost. He want us to pay for the repair on top of the rent. This sounds so illegal. Can you help us ??
