QUESTIONS

  • We decided to withhold rent to force the landlord to repair some unhealthy living conditions. We verbally told the manager that this was why the rent was withheld. They finally got the repairs completed and agreed to a $500.00 discount for the month. They are trying to charge late fees for the month that the rent was withheld. We don't want to move but we don't think it's fair to have to pay late fees considering they agreed their fault for dragging their feet on repairs.

  • A couple of years ago I left my two small children in the care of my brother while I worked 2 jobs to support us. There was then an incident while I was at work and long story short I got charged with class 1 misdemeanor Contributing to the dependency and delinquency of a minor. I completed the year probation and the parenting classes. This was the first and only time I had ever been into trouble. I'm in school and I need to get a fingerprint card for Nursing. How can I, and am I able to get this charge cleared from my record. I'm just a single mom who's trying to better my children's lives.
  • I have a question concerning FBI federal background checks. Is it true that the state only reports arrests to the FBI if there are fingerprints? If I have a dismissed misdemeanor, which did not require my fingerprints or an arrest, will the record be sent to the FBI?
  • The father of my son has his name on the birth cirtificate and also my son has his last name. But over the last 6 months, his father has shown no real interest in wanting to see him and hasn't helped pay for any expenses. My question is, is there anyway I can get my sons last name changed to mine so his father can't decide to come back into the picture a few years from now and try to get custody?
  • I was married to my ex husband for 11 years while he was in the military. He later retired from the military. Am I entitled to half of his pension? It was not noted on our divorce decree.

Can I place lien for unpaid tuition on new home purchased with new wife?
