Question: Quash: The judicial officer stops the Order of Protection or Injunction Against Harassment. Note: Nothing the plaintiff does can stop, change or undo the order. what does this mean. I want to quash an OP that I have against a person. I've decided the emergency is over and don't want to wait for 1 year to expire. What are the consequences to me or the defendant?
Answer: Quash is a legal term for an officer of the court, such as a judge, to stop, void or annul an order so that it is no longer in effect. The note is letting you know that an order will remain in place until it either expires or the person who asked for the order, the plaintiff, must go through a court process to remove the order. The plaintifft cannot just chose to stop an order that is in place without going through the court.
