Where to Find an Attorney for Specific Legal Advice

Arizona has three legal aid organizations which cover different regions of the state.

  1. Community Legal Services (800) 852-9075 covers Maricopa, Mohave, Yavapai, Yuma and LaPaz Counties.
  2. Southern Arizona Legal Aid (800) 640-9465 covers southern Arizona.
  3. DNA People’s Legal Services (800) 789-7287 covers northern Arizona.

All legal service programs in Arizona differ, and their criteria for accepting cases vary. The legal aid organizations above all have the same criteria of income restrictions and legal status requirements, but do have varying priorities.

To find out about more Arizona resources that may be able to assist you, you can contact LegalLEARN, Legal Information & Resources at (866) 637-5341.

Individuals may apply for free and reduced fee legal services by using the "Access To Justice Online Intake System" through AZLawHelp.

If the legal services program in your area cannot assist you, you may be able to find a lawyer through lawyer referral services in Maricopa County (602) 257-4434 or Pima County (520) 623-4625.

The State Bar also maintains a listing of all Arizona attorneys on their website, and certifies “specialists” in eight legal areas. (Not all attorneys seek such certification, however.) Lists of specialists can also be found at the State Bar of Arizona’s website.

QUESTIONS

  • can one of the parents in a joint custody get the child mental health healthcare and or in crisis, without the other parent signing and or agreeing (knowledge)
  • My stepson just passed away at the age of 33. He had sole legal and physical custody of his children, ages 4 and 5. He was never married and the mother of the children has only supervised visits at his discretion. She is currently involved with DCS and has been for almost 3 years. We have filed for permanent custody. Because my husband had sole custody would he have had automatic custody of the kids? They have lived with us for 3 years with their father. We also had guardianship of the kids for a year before father retained sole custody
  • I have custody of my 2 girls. I live in Colorado and their Dad lives in Texas. His last visit he had the girls for 8 weeks over summer. He decided he did not want to return them and got a restraining order against me stating that I did not provide medical and dental care for my children. His support payments just went up. I had to hire an attorney in Texas to get my children back. They are home but he continues to cause trouble by calling CPS. They came out and found nothing wrong and left. He wants them again in Nov. how do I protect myself so he does not do this all over again.
  • my wife and I have been seperated for several months now.she has been in and out of rehab and now wants custody of our daughter. She has giving her mother guardianship.I want to know if I have any way of not letting her get my daughter.
  • My ex-wife and I are going through a divorce and currently we have temp orders for our children. We currently have 50/50 shared joint legal decision making. The orders state supervision around her sister at all time. This is because of a drug issue. I initially filed for 50/50 and no visitations with her sister. My wife asked for sole custody. I feel it is in the best interest of the children to not be around her sister due to the drug problem. How will a judge look at this because her sister is not the one I am divorcing, but she is already in the temp orders and the kids are around her?
  • I have a court order set an my kids dad isn't following the order. I have joint custody an decision making but he does not include me in anything he even has text messages saying how dose it feel to not be apart of my kids life decisions. He hasn't provided me a insuraurence Card even sayin in text it's not important. I still believe there is drugs abuse as well as alcohol . I'm order to pay child support an I made a large payment for the full year now he is requesting me to pay more because he can't pay for the school that he had to have my child to go to. I
  • Can I file for back child support for a child I raised for eight years if I did not originally ask for child support? Custody changed to the mother about a year and a half ago where she did not ask for child support and now she is filing for it.
  • My ex relocated to AZ. I have never left CA. She is trying to get permission to modify our custody agreement in AZ, document says if one party lives in another state and never left AZ may not have power to change. Please inform me of where that rule is and how to cite it in a court document. Thank you
  • At the age of 15 can you choose who you want to live with?
  • My ex husband and I currently have joint custody of our 5 year old. We both don’t have any family here in AZ. I feel it’ll be best for our child to relocate with me back to my home state due to family being there to not only assist in raising but just to know them. I’m also currently in a long distance relationship and pregnant for a man that lives near my family. I’d have a better paying job if I relocated as well. What are my possibilities on being able to relocate our child with me to be with my side of the family(and closer to his side) and also with my soon to be new family?
