QUESTIONS

  • I am looking to purchase a mobile home on a rented lot. The mobile home has a shattered sliding glass door and the swamp cooler is not working. Are these things the landlord is required to have fixed before I purchase the home? I'm not really concerned about the swamp cooler as I own window units, but concerned about the door. The glass was completely shattered on the mobile side of door, presumably by previous tenant who was evicted.
  • The home I rented went into foreclosure and was sold, unbeknownst to me or to the property management company (manager was not the owner). I made 2 rental payments to the management company during the time between the home being sold and us becoming aware of it. I made a CFK agreement with the new owner and requested my deposit, as well as the 2 rental payments back from the manager. They told me to give them a key and they would return my deposit, even though I made it clear I was not moving out. I returned my key and they refused to return my deposit or payments. Do I have any recourse?
  • I am a full time college student in Arkansas. My girlfriend and 4 year old son moved back to Phoenix to live with her dad and his family. I receive VA benefits to attend college and with rent and other items. I have also started working part time, at night, as the money I receive doesn't cover everything. I live very modestly as I don't have much time to do things. I received court papers suing for child support. She and I had already discussed our financial situation. She works full time with the Laveen school system. I try to assist with money but it's very hard. What can I do?
  • We are filing for divorce and Imake $15,000 a year whereas he makes $32, 000. He is trying to get over $600 in child support payments for 2 children one who is under 12 and the other who is 15. Does the payment go according to my income?
  • My husband was previously married in Puerto Rico and divorced there as well from his ex wife. Our previous visit at the legal office on post verified whether or not the ex spouse is entitled to any percentage of his retirement. The information given to us is that she is not entitled to any retirement when it occurs due to haven been married in Puerto Rico. We just want to confirm is this is certain? Thank you
  • who is responsible for vandalized property, the tenant or landlord ?
  • I have raised my grandaughter since she was six months and she is now 7 yrs old. My son lives with me and has legal guardianship over her. Her mother came and got her two days ago stating she now wants to raise her. What legal grounds do I have or what can I do to obtain guardianship over her?
  • Is it possible to file for divorce without knowing the spouse's SSN? She did not have a SSN when we married and I don't have any paperwork with her SSN on it. We're not on speaking terms, but I do know her address.
  • If I can't get a hold of my tenant in regards to late rent am I allowed to call her work number in an attempt to collect late rent?
  • We just received a notice of auction for a property we are renting. Per this letter, the landlord was behind on the mortgage prior to us signing the lease, which we were not aware of. He has no intention of keeping the house and we have another 6 months to our lease. Do we have any rights to with hold rent considering he intentionally scammed us into renting when he had no intentions of using our money to pay the rent and was already behind?
