Divorce & Annulment
questions & answers
Question: How can i annul this marriage i was married just 3 weeks ago and know its a great mistake
Answer: The short duration of the marriage does not provide grounds for annulment. Arizona Revised Statutes, Section 25-301 sets out the grounds for an annulment. It states: "Superior Courts may dissolve a marriage, and may adjudge a marriage to be null and void when the cause alleged constitutes an impediment rendering the marriage void." In other words, you can only obtain an annulment if a condition exists that would have caused the marriage to be void in the first place. For example: the other person was already married; he defrauded you in some way; he turns out to be your long lost brother, etc. If there is no condition that would render the marriage void, you will need to divorce.
