Emancipation

questions & answers

Question: If i get emancipated, could I get the child support check my father sends me and cash it myself?

Answer:

Emancipation essentially makes the minor an adult in the eyes of the law. Child support is court-ordered payments to support one’s minor child or children. Unless specified in the original child support order (made by the courts), the payments typically stop once the minor reaches the legal age of majority or if they become legally emancipated.

ARS 12-2451 outlines necessary requirements needed to be met by the minor petitioning for emancipation.
