Planning Ahead

questions & answers

Question: My question is can a person have two people to be her representative and alternate? Would that be power of attorney? I am at that place in my life where this is urgent I fill out and choose to be my power of attorney. I was just diagnosed with cancer.

Answer: Yes, you can designate two people as co-attorneys in fact (what you call someone who holds a power of attorney).  You can find the forms you need for both a durable medical power of attorney and a durable mental health power of attorney online at the attorney general's website.  They also have a living will.  Go to https://www.azag.gov/seniors/life-care-planning. If you also need a durable general power of attorney so that someone can handle your business and your bills, go to https://superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/llrc/power-of-attorney-forms/.
