QUESTIONS

  • What rights do i have as a tenant if my land lord and his wife are on bad terms and are putting us the tenants in the middle of their martial issues. Landlord is in jail for fraud and beating up his wife. Wife picks up rent money, and landlord sends people to the house to collect rent money even through we gave it to the wife without knowing the landlord was in jail. We are not trying to be in the middle of it, but who do i give the rent money to, if the landlord wants us to give it to other people? The wife wants the money too, but here's the thing we don't have a signed lease no more.
  • Our landlord refuses to fix our swamp cooler and the resulting problems. The swamp cooler leaks water, which has damaged the roof so that it leaks in our bedroom & closet for the last 3 years. This year it blew a fuse, so the landlord is using OUR extention cord for power. Now, whenever the cooler is turned on, the faucets and metal parts of our toilet/sink are electrified. We would like to file the 10 day repair notice but can't afford to move out. Can we file for damages while still living in the apt? Are we allowed to stay until the case is over?
  • My downstairs rental had water damage caused by the upstairs empty rental where the water was not turned off. Parts of the ceiling and walls had to be removed and a restoration team had to dry the wall. Being a home worker and this a very small place, I found a temporary rental. This happened mid-month, I was out for 2 weeks and now I am being asked to pay full rent on the first under the reason that I choose to be out. I have not been answered on when the place will be made whole again and if it would be of consideration to adjust for the days I was not living there. No answer was given,
  • I was convicted of Theft, A class 6 undesignated offense back in the mid 90's. I completed 3 years on probation. My probation officer put in a order of discharge from probation in the late 90's . He signed it and the Judge signed it. It was never checked on if it was a misdemeanor or a felony. I never recieved and paperwork that stated anything about it, just that I was released from probation. So what do I need to do to get this removed? If the paperwork was not completed correctly my the courts can I get it off my record? Thanks
  • I was divorced in 1987. My former spouse has been living with the same person in SC since before the divorce. My former spouse still recieves 30% of my pension. SC is a common law state. Do I have any recourse in proving she is living in a martial state and stopping this benefit?

The quarantine has been difficult for her, but she has a track record of less than pleasant behavior and I have recorded her. There is a quarantine due to COVID I have a medical order advising that I self quarantine. Can she kick me out at whim or lock me out of my home or otherwise threaten me since there is an Executive Order in place and I am a Protected Class?

We were planning on changing her last name from mines to his before she started school, in Nov 2006 he was killed she does get social security from her father and I really would like to grant his wish for his only child to have his last name and she was always taught that her last name is his, please tell me what I can do to change her last name to his?
