  • My family just moved out of a rental house where we lived for 5 years. In the original lease, and verbally ever since then (even in March of this year) the landlord said we would not have to pay for the condition of the carpeting when we moved out because he was going to replace it. The carpet was not damaged, but needed deep cleaning. Now the landlord says we owe $400 over and above our security deposit. He lists $500 for carpet cleaning. Can he do this? What can we do? Thanks
  • I had a question in relation to access notices. A lot of landlords are currently only responding to emergency maintenance calls to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and limiting person to person contact right now. With that being said, if a landlord serves a tenant an access notice stating that they need to enter their dwelling for a pest control inspection, can that tenant deny entry if they have concerns of others being in the home at this time, or does the landlord still have full access rights as long as they provide notice 48 hours or more in advance?
  • I signed a lease for a house and the management company is acting very irresponsible and lackadaisical. I have not put any money down on the house because I was told that I would be set up in the computer to pay. My question is can I legally get out of this lease? It is due to start July 1. I need a management company that is going to be just as responsible as I am required to be and I am getting really bad feelings about this company. Thanks for your help! :) Kristin

We have no responsibility over the mortgage only the space rental. How are we able to get out of the rental space contract if we have to vacate under these circumstances? The purchaser is not in communication with the lien holder and has not made any response. We have been in good credit with the space rental/landowner payments to date.
