Resources for Seniors
questions & answers
Question: I am a disabled senior with significant brain damage. I have been taken advantage of (financially) by a former realtor and former friend. I cannot afford an attorney to sue her. Can anyone assist me?
Answer: This is not an issue that can be resolved on a website such as this. You need legal help. Call the Senior Citizen's Law Project at (602) 252-6710. If they cannot help, they may be able to direct you to someone who can. If you have the means to pay a small consultation fee, you can find a lawyer through one of Arizona's reduced fee programs. There are 3 programs in Arizona that you can use to get some inexpensive legal advice and guidance. One is the Modest Means Program. For a $75.00 fee, the Modest Means Program will arrange a one hour consult with an experienced attorney. The telephone number is (866) 637-5341. Both the Maricopa County Bar Association and the Pima County Bar Association have lawyer referral services that offer a 30 minute consult with an experienced attorney. Maricopa County's Lawyer Referral Service offers a 30 minute consultation for a fee of $40.00. The telephone number is (602) 257-4434. Pima County's Lawyer Referral Service offers a 30 minute consultation for a fee of $35.00. The telephone number is (520) 623-4625. You may also want to contact your local Area Agency on Aging or Adult Protective Services for advice on how to proceed.
