Question: My birth date is wrong on my birth record how can I correct this
Answer: There are specific laws and regulations that govern if and how a vital record may be altered.
If your changes fit in the following categories you will need to go to The State Office of Vital Records and must set an appointment in advance.
•Corrections or amendments to birth records for births that occurred prior to 1997
•Corrections or amendments to delayed birth records (all years)
•Corrections or amendments to foreign-born birth records (all years)
If your changes fit in the following categories you may see your local county health department Office of Vital Records where some services may be offered the same day for walk ins.
•Corrections or amendments to birth records for births that occurred 1997 to the present year
