questions & answers

Question: OK....I am 43 and am on ssi...my "ex"husband said that our divorce was final I believe in 2007 (I should have received papers I know now....) I just found out he passed away 2 years ago and I can find a single record of our divorce...if we were never divorced am I entitled to anything? Benefits...401k etc..

Answer: You may want to contact the County Superior Court to find out if the divorce was finalized in 2007. If it was you may want to ask for a copy of the decree. The same may apply to the death of your ex. You may wish to obtain a copy of the death certificate by contacting the Arizona Dept. of Health at http://www.azdhs.gov/vital-records/death-certificate/. You may also wish to contact an attorney to see if you are entitled to anything regarding benefits, 401K, etc.
