Question: can i get out of a apt. lease due to health reasons
Answer: A landlord has the duty to do whatever is necessary to keep his or her apartments in a fit and habitable condition. Section 33-1324 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) lays out the landlord’s responsibility of maintaining the premises. Section 33-1361 explains the procedure that must be followed. If a landlord has failed to maintain the premises and they’re now affecting the tenant’s health and safety, the tenant may deliver to the landlord a notice that the lease agreement will be terminated in five days if the landlord doesn’t fix the problems.
