questions & answers
Question: Can a Creditor come to your place of business.
Answer:
A creditor who is a debt collector must follow the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This act was designed to curb harrasing behavior by debt collectors in the 1970s. You may want to review the article on this site about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You may also want to re-read your original contract with the creditor which resulted in the debt to see if you agreed to specific terms. If the creditor has not hired a professional debt collector, and is not normally in the business of collecting debts, then the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act may not apply to them.
