questions & answers
Question: CAN MY WAGES BE GARNISHED DUE TO PAST MEDICAL BILLS?
Answer: Generally, wages can be garnished due to past medical bills if the Hospital (or an assignee who purchased the debt) sued the person who owed the money and obtained a judgment. You may want to review the laws contained in Title 12 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.). The section of laws in Chapter 9, Articles 4, 4.1 and 5 contain information on garnishment (beginning with A.R.S. § 12-1570). You may also want to review the information on this website about garnishment.
