Question: I entered into a contract with a landscaper to do the landscaping in our new home but decided to break it as he was too expensive before he did any work or submitted the plan to the HOA. Am I liable to pay him 10% of the contracted amount per the contract ?

Answer:

To find out what your responsibilities are in the contract, you may want to consult with an attorney. If you decide to meet with an attorney, make sure to bring your contract so that the attorney can review it thoroughly before deciding whether you might owe the landscaper 10% of the contracted amount.  The first step in this process would be examining the specific wording of the contract to determine the rights and responsibilities of the parties involved in the dispute.

You may want to contact an attorney to discuss this further.  You can contact the Maricopa County Lawyer Referral Line, the Pima County Law Referral Line or the State Bar of Arizona Find a Lawyer Website .
