Is there an occupancy limit to the number of people who can live in a one bedroom duplex or a one bedroom apartment?

I put a deposit down on an apartment along with an application fee. I was told I was not able to rent the apt. after they ran my application but will not return my security deposit. Can they legally keep my deposit? I understand them charging me the $40.00 for the application fee, but can they keep the $225.00 holding deposit?

I am renting a house with my family of 4. Our landlord is selling the house, and they told us they are going to put a lockbox on the house for showings. 1. Do we have a right to reject this for safety? 2. We need to provide "reasonable" access. How many showings a week would be reasonable? We want to tell them we will only allow X amount of showings per week. What would this number roughly be?

What if I've been to prison and while I was there, my son's father took me to court and got sole legal custody, and since then has dumped my son off on his family (3 years) and has left the state? Do I have any right to do anything? He does not support our son in anyway.

My husband of 14 years abandon my daughter and I and moved out of state without warning. I am getting ready to file for divorce. My daughter, who is 13, states that she does not want to have any visitation with her father of any kind. She is willing to state that in court or in writing or whatever is required. She is determined to have no communication with her father. Is there an age where a child can make this decision for themselves? She is not fearful of him she just wants nothing to do with him since he abandon her.
