Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: I am asking for my 89-year-old parents who live in a senior independent living facility in Tucson. They are coming up on a lease renewal in mid June, however, we are planning to move them to another Senior independent living facility in Sept or October to get them closer to me, as I am their primary caregiver. Can they get out of this new lease without penalty?
Answer: The new lease should include information about each party’s rights and responsibilities related to ending the lease agreement. Lease agreements are contracts both parties are bound to. You may want to consult an attorney to better understand the terms of your parent’s lease agreement and advice on how to pursue a cancellation.
