Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: My rent is 650 a month now my landlord is trying to charg $810 when there is five weeks in a month is she allowed to do that
Answer: It depends on your lease. If you have a written lease then it must state that your rent can be increased during the rent term. If you have a written lease and it does not allow the landlord to raise the rent, then rent cannot be raised until the lease expires and you sign a new lease and agree to a rent increase. If you do not have a written lease, then you are renting month-to-month and the landlord can raise the rent with 30 days prior notice. Hope this helps!
