Landlord and Tenant Rights and Responsibilities
questions & answers
Question: My apartment is taking over by Roaches and I mean it's an infestation. I have tried buying everything and my landlord won't Spray and hire and Extermination Company what are my rights? Thanks in advance
Answer:
A landlord must maintain the rental property up to local building and health codes standards. In some cases, the landlord and tenant can make a “good-faith” written agreement allowing the tenant to make decisions necessary for the overall maintenance of the home. This agreement must include that the tenant get some form of compensation such as reduced rent. Below is a direct link to the Arizona Tenant’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook. Part Three, page 9 lists the tenant’s rights with regards to the habitability of the property.
