questions & answers

Question: hi i'm a non us citizen been living in low income apartments for over 15 years with my children who are all usa citizens how ever my 2 oldest kids moved out and now only 3 of my children are with me one who has autism and 2 other young ones. my landlord now wants to kick me out because i have no papers i want to know what can i do to stop this please any help on information thank you.

Answer: On its own, your citizenship status does not provide a basis for your landlord to evict you. If he is aware of your citizenship status, he could argue that he could be committing a crime by renting to you under A.R.S. 13-2929. I would be very careful, however, in that the landlord may choose to be vindictive and report you to immigration authorities. Your best bet may be to find substitute housing.
