Eviction
questions & answers
Question: I am renting part of a unit where there are three other roommates. None of us knew each other. Landlord put us together as sudents. They party all the time. I cannot sleep or study. Can I get out of my lease. I cannot pay this rent and afford another place at the same time. If he serves eviction notice to all of us, do I still owe him the rent for the remainder of the lease. Other tenants are happy.
Answer: I cannot fully answer this question without looking at the rental agreement. Generally you would not be able to "get out o"f a lease because of the actions of your roommates. As you noted, however, this circumstance is different because the landlord put you together. I suggest, if you have not already done so, that you put your concerns in writing to the landlord and ask to be released from the least or moved into another unit.
