Question: My daughter has custody the grandchildren. She is a drug addict/alcoholic. She has struggled with her addictions for years and once again losing battle. The children's father is in the military, stationed in WA. How can he ask for custody?
Answer: The child's father would have to file for parenting time (also called custody). If he is a resident of Washington State, he may be able to do it there. If he is a resident of Arizona, he can go to https://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/Self-ServiceCenter/Forms/FamilyCourt/index.asp. The forms, information and filing fees are all listed. As he is still in the military, he may also want to speak with his local JAG officer about filing for custody of the children or see if he qualifies for help through our Military Legal Assistance Project: 866-637-5341 lines are open 10-12 and 1-3 Arizona time
