Question: I rented a storage in Goodyear in August of 2015. My payments were up-to-date. The company was sold to another company in May of 2016. On June 8 2016, I was notified that the company was under new management and I was to come in and update my information. On or about June 23,2016,I called the new management to make payment. I was told that my property had been cleaned out by old management back in April 2016. I never moved out of the storage and I was paying on a storage that was now rented out to another. What are my rights. I've lost everything.

Answer: Your problem is covered under Title 33 of the Arizona Statutes as well as the terms of your rental agreement. Title 33-1703 requires the storage unit to notify you if your rental payments are delinquent. Before removing and selling your property, the storage company must send notice of default by verified mail or electronic mail to your last known address. If the company wrongfully removed and/or sold your property without proper notice, you are entitled to sue in civil court.
