Wage Claims
questions & answers
Question: Does an employer have to pay accrued sick and personal/vacation time to an employee that has given a resignation?
Answer: When an employee resigns, an employer has to pay all wages that are due to that employee, including sick time and vacation time, if the employee has a reason to expect that payment. The employee handbook or previous payments to other employees who have resigned are ways to determine if that employer pays accrued sick and/or vacation time.
