Family Medical Leave Act
questions & answers
Question: What if my employer does not believe my reason for the leave?
Answer: An employer can request a note from the treating doctor if you ask for FMLA leave because of your own or a family member's serious health condition. However, your employer must allow you at least 15 days to provide the note, and the note only needs enough information for your employer to decide if you are eligible for FMLA leave.
