Question: Can my landlord make me pay another security deposit for me to move into a different apartment after I have lived in my apartment for the past 10 years and have paid my deposit when I moved in
Answer: When an existing rental agreement ends, the landlord should return any refundable security deposit (less any lawful deductions) to the tenant upon written demand by the tenant (A.R.S. 33-1321(D). If the parties then enter into a new rental agreement, the landlord may ask for a new deposit.
