Domestic Violence
questions & answers
Question: I'm a victim of fraud, conversion, assault and battery, mental, verbal, financial, and elderly abuse. The defendant is sue able. What kind of lawyer would take a case like this? My case doesn't qualify for legal aide, because, it is an Intentional Tort. Is it possible to sue the abuser without an attorney? Hiring a lawyer is not an option, because, I can't afford it. My abuser put me out of business and destroyed all my property. Who gives free legal advice? Do any attorneys specialize in Narcsisstic Personality Disorders?
Answer: A person is not required to have an attorney to file a lawsuit. A person who decides to take their case to court without an attorney is called a pro se. Many resources are available at your local law library and through your local court's self service center. If your case involves domestic violence there may be additional resources that may help you such as the advocate line with the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence (ACESDV). For more information about ACESDV you may want to visit their website: http://www.acesdv.org/.
