Protection Orders
questions & answers
Question: A cop came to my place of work and told me if I contact my ex he would throw me in jail. I've not had any orders by the court so can he it?
Answer: Unfortunately this question is a little difficult to answer without more facts. If a person has requested not to be contacted because they feel harassed or they are being stalked and have in order of protection in place or an injunction and a party is in violation the police may be called. However, a defendant is to be served with a copy of the order of protection of injunction as to have proper notice.
