Expunging or sealing records
questions & answers
Question: I have 9 traffic violations on my record. Can I set aside all 9
Answer: Unfortunately, unless the violations are criminal in nature, they cannot be set aside. The set aside law does not cover everything. Someone looking to set aside a conviction and restore their rights needs to apply to the court. The applicant typically needs to have completed all requirements from the court and all fines need to be paid. The court also likes to see no subsequent offenses within the last year.
If one of your traffic violations is criminal, you can apply to have the conviction set aside. You can find the paperwork on the Superior Court website. Applying doesn’t guarantee it will be approved. The following website is for the Maricopa County Clerk of Courts. This website will have links to the documents you need to file for a set aside, if you qualify.
