Expunging or sealing records

questions & answers

Question: I had a misdemeanor for which I was offered anger management. I have completed the course. It is my first offense. I am about to graduate from a master's program . Is it possible to get this expunged or something close to it? Will this issue show up in other state?

Answer: o In the state of Arizona you cannot have your record expunged, only set aside. This means the original judgment will be change but not destroyed or removed from your record. Additionally each state decides what the meaning of both expungement and/or set aside means in its given state. Some states may look to one another to see how laws are defined, but each state makes its own decision about expungement and setting aside criminal convictions. http://www.azlawhelp.org/articles_info.cfm?mc=13&sc=66&articleid=147
