AHCCCS Medical Program
questions & answers
Question: HOW DO I OBTAIN A COPY OF A AHCCS/MEDI-CAL DECISION/DENIAL NOTICE for my medical reasons for charity care?
Answer:
Usually, either the Arizona Department of Economic Security or AHCCCCS handle eligibility applications for these cases. Service denials generally come from AHCCCS and health plans send out initial denial notices for services.
You may want to contact the public agency that you think is denying the medical services and ask for a copy of the decision. Also, the doctor who prescribes the care usually receives a copy of the denial, so you may want to contact the doctor as well.
If you have additional problems, you may want to contact the legal services office in your area.
