AHCCCS Medical Program
questions & answers
Question: I'm older than 21 and I think I need glasses. Does ahcccs (health choice)cover anything to do with that?
Answer: AHCCCS has a very specific policy regarding eyeglasses for members that are older than 21. Simply put, AHCCCS does not pay for eye glasses for members older than 21 if their only problem is seeing clearly. However, AHCCCS will cover the costs of glasses when sight problems are due to surgery from cataracts. This policy is outlined on page 7 of the AHCCCS Guide to Language in Notices of Action. The AZLawHelp.org link provides multiple articles on AHCCCS and health care in Arizona. ARS 8-701establishes AHCCCS and outlines the goals and rights of the program.
