Question: I am a father of 3 boys, ranging from 8 to 15. when they come over is it ok to get them to help me with yard work or not??according to their mom they are to not do anything but sit and watch tv. if that happens they are to immediatelly call her and she would come pick them up.
Answer:
There is no statute that says that a parent can not make a child do yard work. A parent has a right to choose how they wish to raise their child. However, if there may be specifc rules in your custody granting more rights to your wife allowing her to make this decison not you. Review your custody agreement and see if it addresses the issue, or if you are uncertain what your custody agreement says ask an attorney to explain it to you.
