Question: My boyfriend and I are of legal age, and my Parents filed a restraining Order. What are my Rights and can they do that?
Answer: The following is provided for informational purposes. For advice about your specific situation, you may wish to contact an attorney. According to ARS 13-3602 an order of protection will stay in place for one year from the issue date. If it has not been one year, one hearing is granted for the party constrained by the order or the party inhibited from contacting the other party to modify, quash or maintain the order. A written request must be filed for the hearing to granted. For more information read the article on Protection Orders. There is also information on protective orders provided by Maricopa County Superior Court website.
