Name Change
questions & answers
Question: Do I still need the my ex's permission if I have sole custody? He has never even paid child support. My kids want their name changed too.
Answer:
If you live in Maricopa County, you may want to review the application for name change of a minor on the Superior Court's self service portion of the website to find out more information. Note that you can only apply for the name change if you are the child's parent or guardian. The Superior Court's website lists the procedures for how to file a name change with the Maricopa County Superior Court.
If you live in another County, you may want to look for the Superior Court in your County on the Arizona Supreme Court's website.
