questions & answers
Question: As a grandparent what are the options for guardenship of our 18mon old grandson, Both biological parent have stated they have no intrest in parenting child. Can they be held finacially responciable until he turns 18.
Answer: Guardianship may be available for the child if neither parent is involved. If the child is under the custody of DCS, you may wish to speak with the CPS worker and let them know your interest in guardianship. You can file papers for guardianship at any superior court or use the paperwork from the Maricopa County Superior Court at https://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/JuvenileCourt/guardianship.asp. You may want to speak with an attorney regarding your rights to the child and guardianship as well as financial responsibility..
