Question: my daughter has been going through cps for a year. right now child is with the dads mom foster care. if my grandson is put up for adoption can I adopt my grandson. I am the mothers mother. the other grandma does not want to. what rights would I have to be able to do this?

Answer: The requirements for a grandparent to adopt a grandchild are as follow:
 • Age 18 or older
 • Married or Single
 • Physician’s statement verifying emotional and physical health
• Fingerprinting and criminal background check
• Arizona Department of Economic Security home inspection
 • Fence around pool, if pool is on property
• References
 • Economic Stability

You should check with the case manager about whether you are a possible foster placement for the child as this could assist with the adoption.By law, the state is required to find family placement before a child is placed for adoption. For more information visit: dcs.az.gov/services/foster-care-and-adoption; https://dcs.az.gov/foster-care-licensing-agencies
