Birth Certificate
questions & answers
Question: I never received my son's birth certificate from his birth. We moved shortly after he was born and it never arrived in the mail. Now I have to pay for a copy when I never received the original. How do I get the original
Answer: Contrary to popular belief birth certificates will not be sent from the hospital when a child is born. When a child is born a parent must apply for a birth certificate. The hospital or mid-wife will fill out and provide you with a certificate of live birth. Information about how to apply for a birth certificate will often also be provided. Paperwork is then filled out and submitted to the office of vital records, this office will provide the official birth certificate.
