questions & answers

Question: My daughteris being physically abused by her husband  He has done this before. The police came once to escort her out of the trailer. He left before they came. She is afraid of him as he has threatened to have her children taken away. I am not sure as to what to do as parents. He apologizes, then she keep accepts him back. We are worried about the children. We live in Alaska

Answer: To answer your question, what to do as parents, you may want to give her information on where to find help. She can contact the LegalLearn office at 866-637-5341. There are many places that will offer information and assistance with Orders of Protection, shelter if she needs to leave immediately, counseling etc. She can also look online at http://azlawhelp.org/ under Family and Children/Domestic Violence. There are several articles there on Domestic Violence and what you can do. Ultimately, the choices are for her to make. If you feel the children are in danger, you may want to contact the Dept. of Children Services at: https://www.azdes.gov/dcyf/
