questions & answers

Question: I have recently moved back to arizona,my husband resides in illinois and has filed for divorce. I was told i can't file any papers here to respond to what i was served, and i have no idea what to do or what is going on. Can someone please help me

Answer: Each state has specific state laws on marriage and divorce. You can find the Arizona laws in title 25 of the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.). If your husband filed for divorce in Illinois, that means that the court case may take place in Illinois. If you have already been served, you may want to contact an attorney to find out your rights and responsibilities in this specific situation.  To find an Arizona attorney, go to the Where to Find an Attorney for Specific Legal Advice portion of this website. Note that depending on the situation, you may need to consult with an Illinois attorney.
