Question: Public Housing is asking for a letter stating that I have file child support to the father of my son. My question is that where can I get that letter.Do I have to go to court for this?

Answer: It is not clear from your question what kind of letter Public Housing wants, or who would actually have to write that letter. But in any event, I would contact PH first, and simply ask if sending a copy of your child support petition is good enough. If not, ask them what exactly should be in this "letter" and who must sign it.
