Paternity

questions & answers

Question: My ex girlfriend had but her new current boyfriend on her new childs birth certificate and i want to find out if the child is mine what steps do i need to take to get a DNA test on the baby ?

Answer: To establish paternity of a child, you must file the appropriate forms with the Superior Court in the county in which the child lives. The forms will ask you to provide a reason why you believe you are the father of the child. The court will then decide whether to mandate a DNA test. The Superior Court of Maricopa County offers free workshops the third Friday of every month to help educate individuals on the process of establishing paternity, child custody, and parenting time with a child. For the appropriate forms to complete and file with the court, visit: http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/superiorcourt/self-servicecenter/forms/familycourt/fc_group_6.asp For more information about the workshops, please visit: http://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/FamilyCourt/workShopsEvents.asp
