Paternity
questions & answers
Question: I had a child with a woman who is married. What are the steps that I have to take to establish paternity. That way I am able to have my rights to my child?
Answer: You can contact the Superior court in your county to see if they have a self service center (Maricopa County and Pima County both have self service centers). You can go to their website (Maricopa is https://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/SuperiorCourt/FamilyCourt/workShopsEvents.asp; Pima is: http://www.sc.pima.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=112) and see what forms need to be filled out. They also have classes on how to establish paternity, legal decision making, child support and parenting time. You may also want to consult with an attorney.
