questions & answers

Question: I’ve been trying to see my daughter after I allow her to move back home to Boston cause her moms boyfriend passed away and we came to agreement that we would try to make the trip accommodative. I’ve been to Boston in December to see her but her and her mom is suppose to bring her to Virginia to meet her grandmother who’s sick but she not living up to her side of the agreement. How do I fix this situation cause I wanna be around daughter more and she’s my only child I have

Answer: I am assuming you are an Arizona resident since you are seeking help on an Arizona legal help website.  If your custody agreement s through the Arizona courts, you can use it to enforce visitation.  If she moved after the custody agreement was entered, you may need to request a modification through the court that spells out visitation.  If you do not live in Arizona, you will need to find legal services in the state where you live.  If you are an Arizona resident, there are several programs that can provide inexpensive legal advice based on the specifics of your situation and custody agreement.  There are three programs in Arizona that you can use to get inexpensive legal advice and guidance.  One is the modest means program.  You will need to apply for the program and meet the financial qualifications.  Once you are qualified, Modest Means will send you a list of attorneys whose practice covers your area of concern.  You select a lawyer from the list and will be entitled to a one hour consultation for $75.  If you need additional help and if the lawyer agrees to take your case, the most you will be charged is $75 per hours.  the telephone number is (866) 637-5341.  Both Maricopa County and Pima County have lawyer referral programs that offer a 30 minute consult with an attorney.  Maricopa County's Lawyer Referral Service offers a 30 minute consult with an experienced attorney for $40.  The telephone number is  (602) 257-4434.  Pima County's Lawyer Referral Service offers a 30 minute attorney consult for $35.  The telephone number is (520) 623-4625.
