Child Custody

questions & answers

Question: Hi I gave up rights of my son and I have been seeing but now the person I gave rights to wont let me see him and he wants to see me I filed for parental time but do I have a chance?

Answer: In cases regard child custody, it is the duty of the court to make a decision based on what they believe to be in the best interests of the child. There is no way to guarantee that the court will rule for or against a particular parent or guardian. However, consulting with a lawyer and ensuring that all paperwork has been completed accurately is important.

The Maricopa County Superior Court offers workshops to assist individuals representing themselves. Workshops that discuss issues of child custody are held the third Friday of every month. For information on child custody paperwork and the workshops available through the court, please visit: https://www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/sscDocs/packets/drcv1.pdf
