I have a 12 year old son, who has a hyphenated last name. He wants to drop one of the hyphened names so that we have the same last name. His bio father never signed the birth certificate and has never been in the picture. Do I need to contact the bio father in order to get the name change? If i have always had a savings account under my name only can the other party claim it?

My son is 5 years old. I have sole custody. I read the self service paperwork and it says I have to notify the other parent or show "order terminating parental rights of the other parent." Is my divorce decree showing sole custody good enough? I know sole custody gives me the right to make decisions for my children even if my ex does not agree.

I have a step son who’s 18 yo and will be 19 in a month who recently just had a baby. My question is this, he recently received a paternity court summons and in the summons it says he has 20 days to respond. Needless to say he hasn’t responded and he’s just ignoring the summons. What will happen if he continues to ignore this summons? It’s already passed the 20 day window.

We rented from a complex in Phoenix with a 13 month lease. We gave a 30 day notice and broke our lease after 6 months for my wife to take a job in PA. The lease states that we are responsible for the entire amount due UNTIL the apt is rented. That amounts to $11,000! It is now in collections, so I called to see if the apt. has been rented yet. I was not told if it has been, but the mgr. said it does not matter because we are still responsible for ALL of the rent, since we did not pay it all when we moved out. . Can they charge us for rent on an apt that is being rented? If so--RIDICULOUS

How do me and my Husband go about getting Legal Guardianship over our Stepgrandaughter? Here Biological have Legal Guardianship over her since last year. But they have moved out of state and chose to leave the 15 year old here in Arizona with her Mother. The 15 year old and her Mother had a blow up at the end of Dec. 2014. So we were called and asked if we could take her and that her Mother wanted nothing more to do with her. So we've had here since Dec. 29th 2014. The Mother had me write up a letter stating that she was giving me and my husband power of attorney over the 15 year old.
