QUESTIONS

  • I was adopted at the age of 13 from Russia. My adopted American parents were abusive. At the age of 18 I left home. I have been homeless living with friends as I finished my high school diploma. I have not been able to pay anyone for living at their home. I have started community college full time, two of my classes are not college accredited as I was educationally deprive and have to catch up to take Eng. 101 and college math. I spend more time studying than the average student as English is my second language. I work 8 hours a week at a clothing store. I just started caring for a 90 year old lady, more than 20 hours per week, in exchange for a place to study & sleep. DES says I need to work 20 hours a week to get food stamps. Would my caring of the 90 year old count as working even though I do not get paid?
  • I want to amend my divorce decree so I can re-join the military. Currently ex is living out of state with child and I'm living overseas. Is it possible to make change without either of us flying back to AZ?
  • I have three kids and my husband filed for divorce in Iowa...I moved to Arizona two weeks ago and I was wondering if I have to get a lawyer from Iowa or can I have a lawyer from Arizona...and does anyone know of how I would be able to get a lawyer for free because I am a single mother and can't afford a lawyer.
  • My husband owes child support arrearage for his youngest daughter for the first 2 years of her life. He has had sole custoday of the child since year 2 and modified the child support to start receiving support. The mother has not paid her support in over a year and now has accumulated arrearages. What is the procedure to get the courts and/or DES to offset her arrearage balance and future support against my husband's arrearage balance? At this point in time this will cut my husbands arrearage in half.
  • What would be the circumstance if my landlord and I both thought we had insurance policies and the address was given to each insurance company incorrectly therefor policies did not exist for the address. Who would be responsible for my loss and damages? The landlord is blaming their contractor for the vandalism, and would this be why my landlord toyed with me for 3 months then finally replaced the HVAC unit when they finally had coverage to do so? Because If I ran into the problem with my insurance company I am sure when they tried to file a claim they ran into the same issue.
  • My landlord turned off the air conditioning between Nov 2014 and March 2015. The ac is controlled per bldg. I read ARS 33-1364 and spoke to two different people at Neighborhood services. Both stated the management company violated the law because it is not stated in the lease that the ac will be cut off between Dates A & B. I am going to try to resolve this with them but I would like to ensure I am on solid ground.
  • I have been told that is a mother and father of a child come to an agreement on custody, child support and other issues pertaining to the child that they can write it out sign it notarize it and it is legal and will hold up in court. Is this true?
  • I am a widow who remarried 5years ago in June of 2010 my spouse has not worked steadily for the past four years and not at all for the last three years. He moved into my home when we met and things started getting bad right after we got married I told him I wanted a divorce and he told me to go ahead and file, that he can stay living here in my house for 2 years after I file legally.  I do have a prenuptial agreement. Is this true?
  • My husband apparently owes $40,000 to arrears. He has been garnished for two years now and the amount on the statements does not go down, is there something wrong with this? Plus even though he pays child support and arrears they just now put a hold on his bank account, can they do this?
  • Can you get child support if you are the legal guardian not a parent? I am taking care of two children that I have guardianship of. The parents live together and are not providing any assistance.
