QUESTIONS

  • My boyfriend was arrested last night for aggravated assault against me. I told the police that he has a history of mental illness and that he needed to go to a psychiatric hospital but they took him to jail anyway. I am not pressing charges but I am afraid the state will. How do I help him get the charge dropped and get mental help?
  • I'm a mother of 2. My oldest is 24 but mentally handicapped. My daughter is 14. Her father not my son's and I live together and co-parent. We are not in a relationship. He is mentally, verbally and has been physically abusive to me. Can I file for a temporary order to protect my children and myself from him? We share custody of her. Please help. Thank you.
  • Due to domestic violence/ child support I have received permanent guardianship of my 16 year old niece. Her Mother is still paying child support to the Father in another county. How do I get that paid to me and also get a child support order in place for the Father? Is there any SSI or govt assistance I can get help from?
  • I obtained an order of protection 3 days ago and attempted to use it to terminate my lease with the apartment manager. They told me they will have to review the order and that the order has to be served in order to be used as evidence of DV. How long do I have to wait for the apartment complex to fulfill my request? What legal processes apply?
  • i have a assault - touching with intent to injur charge and managed to miss my court date wich was on wed.Called today and they issued a warrent misdereanor but also have a 500.00 bond how do i take care of tis without going to jail ?????
  • If a child is charged with domestic violence against a parent and the child is 16, does this stay on the childs record permately?
  • I filed for a order of protection 2/18 & defendant filed to drop it (heating 3/4). Judge said there were 2 violations since OP was granted but since I replied to his saying he was sorry to hear about the death of my 23 yr. old cat (no law says I can't contact him!) he/Judge said he's only guilty of one violation ...yet he firmly told defendant to leave me alone & granted his request to dismiss the Order of Protection. What can I do about this injustice? By the way we are a bit racial couple
  • I see a lot of doctrine that establishes the means of acquiring a Protection Order, but I see nothing in regards to the ramifications of filing a false one. So my question is; does filing a false Protection Order, also include immunity from prosecution? Is there any justice for anyone who has been the victim of a system remedy, which has been abused to the point where it has become weapon, rendering it ineffective? Its ironic that a system created to help victims, in turn makes victims. Was that the intended purpose, to deprive fathers of their children and create a plethora problems?
  • Is therea statute to limititations toproviding evidence, specifically witness testimony(several)of eye witness observation of thedomestic violence perpetrator ?Specifically incidents happened about 3 years ago . One party (With the witness testimonies) has consistently voiced the occurence ofdomestic violence in court hearings regarding child custody cases . While the other party has consistently denied it . Concerns have been reviewed and the perpetrator has managed to elude all agencies of thisproblem ( which is now goingonwith his new live in partner in front of the children(not the witness
  • the filer of an order of protection against me.violated it by contacting me. what do the rules say about that
